17-year-old charged after allegedly shooting 16-year-old, Hickory police say

HICKORY, N.C. — A 17-year-old was charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a 16-year-old in the chest shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday at the Waverly Ridge apartments on First Street Southeast in Hickory, investigators said.

The shooting victim was airlifted to a hospital and is in critical condition.

Witnesses said they heard two to three shots fired near an outdoor common area at the apartments.
