CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officers were called to James Martin Middle School in University City Sunday morning and discovered damaged doors and equipment. The school was broken into, officers said.
"Later that evening, we got another call,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Capt. Alan Rutledge said.
Officers returned to the school at about 7 p.m. and there was more damage to doors, along with computers and windows.
The vandals were found in the school and were arrested.
“Yeah, I think it was sport and maybe a little frustration on their part that school was getting ready to start back up,” Rutledge said.
Police didn’t say if the three 15-year-olds who were arrested attended the school.
