‘This holiday will never be the same’: Woman shot to death in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Police are investigating after a woman was shot to death early Monday in north Charlotte.

Officers were called just after midnight to the scene along Twin Brook Drive, near Gibbon Road in the Derita neighborhood.

Police said they responded to a shooting call and when they got there, they found 21-year-old Sheryln Drew, who had been shot.

MEDIC pronounced Drew dead at the scene.

Officers told Channel 9 they’re trying to support a mourning family this Memorial Day.

“Regrettably, as we go into a holiday week, folks are waking up ready to celebrate and spend time with loved ones and this family is forever going to be scarred by losing a loved one,” said CMPD Maj. Cecil Brisbon. “So, this holiday will never be the same.”

CMPD has not named a suspect and no arrests have been made.

Brisbon said detectives were spread out across the neighborhood, speaking with anyone who may have information about the crime.
