Three hospitalized following wagon accident at Lazy 5 Ranch (Lazy 5 Ranch)

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — An accident took place at Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville Saturday.

During a horse-drawn wagon ride, a limb from a tree fell and struck the side of the wagon.

The horses jumped, which caused three passengers to fall from the wagon. All three were transported to nearby hospitals for further evaluation.

The other passengers were either unharmed or declined medical assistance. The ranch says the wagon driver is doing well and that the horses were unharmed and returned to work after being evaluated.

“With the factors being animals, horses, people, equipment, and nature. We are well aware of the risk involved. We try our very best to mitigate all risk. We address the risk daily. Putting in consideration the design of our equipment, education of our drivers, selection of horses, and road maintenance. In the history of Lazy 5 Ranch, more than three million guests have experienced our horse-drawn wagon rides. “The safety and well-being of our visitors, staff, and animals remain our highest priority. We will continue to take this responsibility seriously as we move forward,” said Lazy 5 Ranch.
