Troopers searching for driver after fatal hit-and-run in York County

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — Troopers are searching for a driver after a person was killed Sunday morning in a hit-and-run in York County.

The crash happened at about 4:50 a.m. on Highway 21 near Regent Parkway.

Troopers said the person died at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

Authorities said they are looking for the driver of a black 2004-2010 5-series BMW. They said the driver left the scene traveling north toward Interstate 77 and Carowinds.

The vehicle may have damage to the driver’s side and the side mirror may be missing, officials said.

Anyone with information on where the driver may be is asked to contact the South Carolina Highway Patrol at 864-241-1000.
