1 year later, troopers still looking for driver who hit, killed man in York County

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — Monday marked the one year anniversary of a deadly crash that took the life of a 42-year-old man.

Troopers are searching for a driver after a man was killed the morning of Oct. 18, 2020 in a hit-and-run in York County.

The crash happened at about 4:50 a.m. on Highway 21 near Regent Parkway.

Troopers said Scott Jason Mock, 42, was crossing US Highway 21 on foot and was hit by a car. He died at the scene, troopers said.

Authorities said they are looking for the driver of a black 2004-2010 5-series BMW. They said the driver left the scene traveling north toward Interstate 77 and Carowinds.

The vehicle may have damage to the driver’s side and the side mirror may be missing, officials said.

Mock’s family is asking for any information that could help the South Carolina Highway Patrol to solve this case. Anyone with information on where the driver may be is asked to contact the South Carolina Highway Patrol at 864-241-1000.
