CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools families were notified Thursday about potential exposure to tuberculosis and whooping cough at two middle schools.
CMS identified one case of tuberculosis at Alexander Graham Middle School and reported one case of whooping cough at Carmel Middle School, CMS spokesperson Tom Miner said.
CMS is working with the Mecklenburg County Health Department to identify and contact people who may have been exposed, according to the Charlotte Observer.
“Our priority is the safety and well-being of our students, families and staff,” Miner said, adding that the district is following recommendations from local and state health officials.
Parents are encouraged to review guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and contact their health care provider with questions or concerns.
