Two related shootings and an armed robbery in Lancaster are under investigation, police say

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — Lancaster police are investigating two related shootings and an armed robbery that happened on Friday night in Lancaster.

Police said a teen was shot while playing basketball with friends on West Gay Street at around 7 p.m.

The friends were playing at the basketball court when they heard gunfire. Police said they found multiple shell casings.

After arriving at the basketball court, officers found another person had been grazed by a bullet while driving down the bypass near a KFC.

Police said both shootings are considered related and are being investigated together.

Both victims were transported to medical facilities to be treated.

While investigating, officers responded to an armed robbery at ALDI.

Detectives said a woman had walked into the store with a mask, saying she had a gun and wanted all of the store’s money.

The woman was dressed entirely in black, and had on face mask, sunglasses, and a scarf around her hair.

Officers do not believe this incident is related to the shootings.

Both cases are under investigation.
