UCPS announces 2023 Teacher of the Year finalists

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Union County Public Schools recently announced their top 10 finalists for this year’s Teacher of the Year awards.

The finalists were picked out of a pool of 53 teachers from across the county for their dedication, innovation, student achievement, and ability to inspire. On Monday, Union County Superintendent Dr. Andrew Houlihan and other board of education leaders surprised each of the finalists at their schools.

During the award ceremony on May 4, one finalist will be named the 2023 UCPS Teacher of the Year.

Houlihan said he enjoys this time of year because he can show the teachers how much the county and their students appreciate their hard work.

“I always look forward to going out and surprising our Teacher of the Year finalists. Our teachers are the best, and they deserve to be celebrated and recognized for their excellent teaching and leadership,” Houlihan said.
