UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Crews worked most of the day Wednesday to clear a Union County highway after a tractor-trailer crash knocked traffic lights into the road.
Two tractor-trailers crashed just after 3 a.m. Wednesday, blocking part of U.S. Highway 74 near Sardis Church Road. The highway has since reopened.
The crash brought lines from the traffic lights down onto the highway.
The road closure and detours caused significant delays to build through the day.
U.S. 74 eastbound (towards Monroe) is now open to vehicle traffic. U.S. 74 westbound (towards Charlotte) remains closed and is expected to be opened within the next few hours. Please continue to use caution in the area and thank you for your patience.
