Uptown road closures planned for Charlotte Pride Festival

CHARLOTTE — Organizers expect about 250,000 people to attend the Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade this weekend in Uptown.

The two-day celebration will feature live musicians and bands, food vendors, art exhibits, local nonprofits and retailers.

The festival will run from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The parade is scheduled for Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

With large crowds expected, several roads will be closed throughout the weekend.

Friday, Aug. 14 at 9:30 a.m. through Sunday, Aug. 16 at midnight: N. Brevard Street will be closed between E. 6th Street and E. 9th Street.
Saturday, Aug. 15 at 6 a.m. through Sunday, Aug. 16 at midnight: E. 7th and E. 8th streets will be closed between Caldwell Street and the light rail tracks.
Sunday, Aug. 16 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: N. Tryon Street will be closed between the Church-Tryon Street connector and W. 8th Street, including cross streets.
Sunday, Aug. 16 from noon to 4:30 p.m.: N. Tryon Street will be closed between W. 8th Street and W. 3rd Street, including cross streets.

Drivers traveling through Uptown should plan for delays and allow extra time to reach their destinations during the festival and parade.
