Man pulls pin on fake grenade in Walmart Neighborhood Market

HUDSON, N.C. — The Hudson Police Department arrested a 24‑year‑old man after a tense standoff inside the Walmart Market in Hudson on Friday afternoon.

Investigators said Alexander Little called 911 around 1 p.m., claiming he saw a man walk into the store with a hand grenade.

Little gave dispatchers a detailed description of himself and said he watched the person retrieve the grenade from a vehicle before entering the store.

When officers arrived, they found Little inside a shopping aisle. Police say he pulled a hand grenade from his pocket, prompting officers to evacuate the store and set up a perimeter.

During the standoff, Little made threatening statements and gestures suggesting he intended to detonate the device.

Officers determined the grenade was inert and used less‑lethal force to take him into custody without injuries.

Little is charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction, false bomb report, and going armed to the terror of the public.

He is being held at the Caldwell County Detention Facility with no bond.
