Waxhaw home destroyed in fire; firefighter treated for burns, authorities say

WAXHAW, N.C. — Firefighters are investigating what caused a Union County house fire Monday night.

It happened on Yellow Horn Trail in Waxhaw just before 8 p.m.

Video posted to Facebook by the Pleasant Valley Fire Department shows flames covering the roof of the home.

According to Union County dispatchers, a Wesley Chapel firefighter was treated for burns at the hospital. He was released Tuesday morning.

Authorities said the family wasn’t home at the time of the fire. Their home is considered a total loss and they’re now staying with family members.

Investigators are working to determine how the fire started but they don’t believe a crime has been committed at this time.

No further information has been released.
