CHARLOTTE — After Winston-Salem-based Windsor Jewelers added a location in Charlotte in 2013, the family-owned business casted an eye on aligning with the NFL Carolina Panthers.
Thirteen years later, the company has done just that, signing on as a sponsor of both the Panthers and their Major League Soccer siblings, Charlotte FC. Tepper Sports & Entertainment owns the Panthers and Charlotte FC.
Ben Simon, Windsor Jewelers Vice President and son of company founder Rob Simon, told Charlotte Business Journal that “as a North Carolina business, we know how important these teams are to our state — and to South Carolina, too.”
Simon believes the affluence of NFL fans, particularly those who attend games in person, will help the jeweler, whose Charlotte store is at Phillips Place. Adding Charlotte FC should help the company reach a younger and more diverse audience, Simon said.
With both teams, Simon hopes to hold in-store events including fundraisers for preferred Panthers and Charlotte FC charities.
