RALEIGH — A winning $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold at the Harris Teeter on Davis Lake Parkway in Charlotte, according to lottery officials.
The Charlotte win was part of a slate of lucky tickets sold across North Carolina during Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, which also produced a $1 million winner in Elizabeth City.
The $1 million winning ticket was purchased for $2 at the Hop-In Citgo on North Road Street in Elizabeth City. That ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls, an outcome with odds of 1 in 11.6 million.
Two additional $50,000 winning tickets were sold elsewhere in the state. One was purchased at Park N Shop on Weeksville Road in Elizabeth City, while the other was sold at Happy Smoke on Neuse Boulevard in New Bern.
All lottery winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.
A Powerball ticket sold in Illinois matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing, winning an estimated $1 billion jackpot, lottery officials said.
The Powerball jackpot for this Saturday’s drawing sits at $20 million, with a cash option of $8.7 million. The odds of matching all numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
