Woman charged with murder for domestic-related shooting, police say

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A woman was charged with murder following a domestic-related shooting Sunday in Gastonia, police said.

Officers responded to the scene just after 2 p.m. on River Trace near River Ridge Drive.

Officials said 33-year-old Willie Breeden was shot in the chest. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Valencia McLean, 31, was charged with first-degree murder.

Police have not said what led to the shooting.
