Work begins to remake old west Charlotte grocery store into offices

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Work is beginning to transform a 1960s-era grocery store on Wilkinson Boulevard into office space.

Charlotte real estate firms Roby Commercial — part of the Roby Family of Cos. — and Red Hill Ventures have begun renovating the old Park ‘n Shop, at 3512 Wilkinson Blvd., into 33,000 square feet of leasable space.

The west Charlotte store was one of the most popular grocers in the city during its heyday, after opening in 1958. It was the first of what would become a small chain of stores across the region.
