North Carolina principal charged with statutory rape

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — GOLDSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina say they are trying to find a school principal who had sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl.

News outlets report that Goldsboro police on Friday charged Richard Omar Knight with statutory rape and other charges.

Knight, 35, was principal of the Dillard Academy in Wayne County at the time of the alleged offense. He's since been suspended from the charter school.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating Knight.
