Jerry Perkins has been married to his wife, Louise, for nearly 65 years. Louise Perkins has been at an assisted living center in Bay Minette, Alabama, for nearly three years, and Monday was the first time Jerry Perkins could not see her in person, WKRG reported.

When Jerry Perkins realized he could not sit next to his wife and could only communicate through a window, he made the best of the confining situation.

Jerry sang “You Are My Sunshine,” adding, “Did you know you are my sunshine? Even at night, you are my sunshine.”

“Going in there to see and just to be a glass apart from us was very encouraging to us to be able to see her,” the couple’s daughter, Sandra, told WKRG.
