Daytona Beach police said they saw people tucking dollar bills into Robert Burck’s guitar after taking photographs with him, WFTV reported. Burck then pulled away when officers tried to take him into custody and broke the headstock on his guitar.

Burck, 51, who is widely known for wearing white briefs, boots and a cowboy hat while playing the guitar in Times Square, is also a regular at Bike Week, an annual gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts on Florida’s Atlantic Coast.

Burck was released from jail after appearing before a judge Sunday.
