A 3-year-old Oregon boy died Friday night after he found a handgun in his home and shot himself in the head, authorities said.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, James Kenneth Lindquester took the gun out of an end table drawer in a bedroom before 10 p.m. at his Aloha home and shot himself, The Oregonian reported.
Deputies, along with Metro West and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue officials, administered life-saving efforts and transported the boy to an area hospital, KPTV reported.

The child was pronounced dead shortly after midnight, the television station reported.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the case.
The boy’s family submitted photographs to the sheriff’s office to be publicly shared, The Oregonian reported.
They include the boy smiling as he sits on a lawn, him being embraced by a woman in front of a birthday cake, and a closeup shot of him smiling, the newspaper reported.
An autopsy will be conducted at the Oregon Medical Examiner’s office, the sheriff’s office said.
