Blast of cool air arrives for the weekend

We will have yet another late season blast of winter weather as we head into the upcoming weekend.

Saturday morning temperatures will dip into the mid-to-lower 30s, with temperatures right around 36 degrees in the Charlotte area.

For the mountains and foothills, freezing temperatures will be possible, so you will want to keep the sensitive plants indoors.

Temperatures will plunge even farther Sunday morning, with morning lows in the 20s.

For places like Charlotte, this very well could tie or break the record low of 28 degrees set back in 2007.

This will also be the coldest temperatures we’ve felt since the end of February.

With temperatures this cold, a freeze is possible, and any sensitive vegetation needs to be covered or taken indoors.

Despite a cold start to the day both Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will manage to warm into the 50s by the afternoon – about 10-15 degrees below average for the middle of April.

The good news is for the upcoming weekend, conditions will stay sunny and clear.

The Carolinas will feel a warm up in temps as we head into the upcoming workweek, rebounding into the lower 70s by Monday.
