FORECAST: Ground stop issued for Charlotte airport due to thunderstorms

CHARLOTTE — A ground stop has been issued for Charlotte Douglas International Airport due to thunderstorms.

The advisory is expected to be lifted by 6:30 p.m.

FORECAST:

  • We are tracking the threat of downpours expected to arrive tonight and last into the start of the weekend.
  • There is a risk of lightning that could delay the Panthers’ game.
  • Storm threats continue into the night, and there may still be a lingering shower to deal with on Saturday.
  • The clouds and rain threats will keep those temperatures down in the 80s tomorrow.
  • Thereafter, the heat will be unleashed, and we’ll be looking at another potentially dangerous heat wave next week.
