FORECAST:

  • A Heat Advisory is in place until 8 p.m. Friday for the Charlotte metro and areas to the south and east as temperatures climb to near-record highs.
  • It will be in the mid-to-upper 90s, which is close to the record high of 98 degrees set in 1925 in Charlotte.
  • However, with high humidity, it will feel more like it’s between 103 and 107 degrees at times.
  • There’s another isolated chance for a shower or storm this afternoon, but most will stay dry.
  • The weekend forecast looks much the same, with highs in the mid-90s, triple-digit heat index values and daily chances for scattered showers and storms.
  • This extreme heat looks set to continue for most of next week, with few signs of relief.
