Charlotte Motor Speedway to host drive-in movie nights, fireworks

CONCORD, N.C. — Grab some popcorn and snacks, load up the family and head to Charlotte Motor Speedway for a night of film and fireworks.

The track will host two nights of family entertainment to benefit its Speedway Children’s Charities.

Movies will be shown on the speedway’s 16,000-square-foot HDTV and families can tune in from the comfort and safety of their cars through an FM radio transmitter, practicing safe social distancing.

Restrooms will be open. Otherwise, guests are asked to stay in their cars.

On July 1, the cult classic film “The Goonies” will be shown. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Fireworks will follow the film at approximately 9 p.m.

Admission costs $40 per car.

On July 8, “The Secret Life of Pets” will be shown. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 7 p.m. Entry for this event costs $30 per car.
