CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Update: Blumenthal Performing Arts and Charlotte Center City Partners announced on Aug. 23 that Charlotte SHOUT! will be postponed until 2022.
The bunnies are coming back!
Charlotte Center City Partners and Blumenthal Performing Arts have announced that Charlotte SHOUT! will return to uptown from Sept. 17 to Oct. 3.
The multi-week celebration will feature internationally and locally acclaimed artists, dancers, musicians, poets, storytellers and chefs. Playful art installations, such as the large inflatable bunnies by Amanda Parer, and live performances will entertain all ages throughout the festival.
Blumenthal president Tom Gabbard said, “Our goal is to make Charlotte SHOUT! the most inspiring annual festival in the southeast celebrating art, music, food and ideas. This year we will especially savor the chance to safely be together again to enjoy our vibrant city, and the creativity that helps to define it.”
Charlotte SHOUT! 2019 marked the first time Charlotte Center City Partners and Blumenthal Performing Arts partnered together to plan and produce the festival, which had been on hiatus since 2009. The festival’s inaugural revival drew thousands of visitors to more than 200 events over its two-week run.
The full lineup of musical acts, installations and performances for this year’s event will be announced this summer.
Organizers are also actively searching for local artists from all areas of Charlotte’s creative community to participate. Categories for participation include art, music, food and ideas.
