CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Video captures bullying on CMS bus

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A viewer sent Eyewitness News a video that shows more than one student punching, slapping and jumping on top of a young boy and using profanity on a moving school bus.

The video was taken on a bus carrying Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Winterfield Elementary School students in east Charlotte.

"It's horrible on that bus,” one parent said. “That particular bus, it's horrible."

A mother told Channel 9 that that's the bus her son rides on, and he's experienced the same thing.

"They've been bullying him since he's been on that bus," she said.

Another mother said she doesn't let her daughter take the bus for similar reasons.

"She's in first grade, and she's always complaining about how the big kids are loud and cursing," she said.

Channel 9 asked CMS for comment Monday afternoon, asking what happened on the bus, whether it's the first time such behavior has happened and who investigates such situations.

Officials confirmed that there was an incident on a Winterfield Elementary School bus and said the students are being disciplined.
