Young Black Leadership Alliance (YBLA), a Charlotte-based organization that facilitates leadership development for black high school and college students and young professionals, hosts its 2nd annual Career Exploration Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Hilton Charlotte University Place, 8629 J.M. Keynes Drive, Charlotte, N.C., 28262.
The event offers students an immersive experience with entrepreneurs, as well as professionals from corporations in a variety of industries, including healthcare and wellness, technology, hospitality, legal and the arts.
More than 400 students and parents are expected to attend the event, which features three segments: a traditional career expo, a panel on diversity and inclusion and a luncheon for corporate participants.
Students are encouraged to meet one-on-one with at least four professionals, and those who do will be entered into a drawing to win prizes.
YBLA's mission is to help young black students become leaders, role models and change agents who positively impact their communities. The organization achieves this through leadership development, college and career readiness, and community service.
“Our corporate partners will get to meet some of the brightest young leaders in Charlotte and our YBLA participants will get rare time and attention from some of the area’s leading professionals representing multinational companies, start-ups and everything in between,” John Martin, YBLA president, said. “This unique networking experience provides our young leaders exposure to a broad range of emerging and established career opportunities.”
YBLA’s mission is to develop young black leaders to have a positive impact in their community and beyond. Over the past 13 years, YBLA participants have impacted more than 13,000 people around the world through conferences, workshops, service projects, and international mission trips.
