Anthony Hamilton spreads seeds of hope in Charlotte neighborhood

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, producer and bestselling author Anthony Hamilton hosted a community event for the residents of Charlotte’s Dillehay Courts, in partnership with INLIVIAN (formerly Charlotte Housing Authority).

“Being in this community and taking care of the people who are living right here is planting a good seed and throwing into people’s lives.” Hamilton said.

There was a grocery giveaway along with COVID-19 testing, voter registration and on-site census accounting for residents only.

“I think everybody’s at a time and place in their lives where we desire change and we desire the better half,” he said.

School-age kids received a book bag filled with school supplies, masks and hand sanitizer to assist with their remote learning requirements.

The event is part of Anthony Hamilton wanting to reach out to inner-city communities to ensure residents know they are a valuable part of the community and they are not forgotten during this pandemic.

Hamilton and INLIVIAN also partnered with several national and local organizations to create this event. These included the HAMFAM, Steve and Majorie Harvey Foundation, Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A, Block Love Charlotte, Community Hub and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, which together brought valuable resources and services to the community.

“It’s hard for the people but it’s starting to change. There’s more good than evil and we’re gonna put evil out with love. We’re gonna put hunger out with food.”

Although his message was simple it was certainly from the heart, and you could hear the emotion in his words when he spoke to the group of volunteers and community partners who came to help.

“I’m here to represent Charlotte whether it be music, food, prayer or just being a cat you can speak to in the grocery store. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart,” Hamilton said.
