Canines, Quidditch rule at Rural Hill this weekend

You can spend a fun fall weekend with your furry best friend at the 25th annual Rural Hill Sheepdog Trials & Dog Festival from Friday through Sunday.

The event will feature the National Border Collie Shepherding Championships, the high-flying Carolina Dock Dogs, Canine Agility Club competitions and more.

Rural Hill's 265 acres and trails will be open to explore. In addition, there will be hayrides, historic craft and cooking demonstrations, food and beverage vendors, shopping, living history demonstrations in the 1760s cabin, pumpkin chunkin’ and kids' activities.

On Saturday, UNC Charlotte will host the Harry Pawter Quidditch Tournament during the event.

The festival is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Tickets are available online or may be purchased at the gate.

Single-day admission on Saturday and Sunday costs $11 for adults and $8 for children ages 5-12. Two-day tickets are also available. Admission on Friday costs $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 5-12. Children age 4 and younger are admitted free.
