CONCORD, N.C.,None — Family and friends gathered Saturday at the Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord to say goodbye to Dustin Witherspoon.
A graveside funeral has been scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. at Charlotte Memorial Gardens.
Concord police arrested two men they say started the house fire that killed Witherspoon.
Police arrested and charged 16-year-old Jeffery Truesdale and 18-year-old Michael Yoders with first-degree arson and murder on Friday.
Both men are being held at the Cabarrus County Detention Center without bond.
The two were responsible for setting the fire that killed the 23-year-old early Tuesday morning, according to the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.
Firefighters were called to the Zion Church Road home at about 2:30 a.m. and arrived to find that the fire had spread over 75 percent of the house. Someone driving by spotted the flames and called for help, fire officials said.
Witherspoon was found dead inside of the home, Sheriff Brad Riley said.
Three other people, including a 2-month-old child, made it out of the home safely. The mother and child were taken to a local hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation. Both were expected to be OK.
Witherspoon's body wasn't immediately discovered, deputies said. Investigators found it later Tuesday as they were going through the home looking for evidence. Investigators said they were unable to search areas of the home until later in the afternoon because of the condition of the house.
Investigators also said they initially received conflicting information about who was in the house at the time of the fire.
Witherspoon's cause of death has not yet been determined.
The Sheriff's Office and the Cabarrus County Fire Marshal's Office are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 704-920-3057.
