MORGANTON, N.C.,None — Patrol cars and fire trucks blocked off part of Vine Arden Road this morning because of a gas leak.
The natural gas leak started when a car struck a gas meter at 200 Vine Arden Road, according to Capt. Karl Walden with Morganton Department of Public Safety. Officers blocked Vine Arden at its intersections with Bracket and View streets and evacuated a handful of nearby homes.
The officers were waiting for Piedmont Natural Gas to dig up the line and repair the leak, Walden said.
