1 dead, 2 hurt in crash on I-77 in Chester County, troopers say

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — A person was killed and two others were hurt in a crash in Chester County Sunday night, troopers said.

South Carolina Highway Patrol responded at around 9 p.m. to a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 77 near Richburg.

According to troopers, the driver of a Toyota Camry was leaving a rest area and crossing into the median when it was stuck by an SUV with six people inside.

The driver of the Camry died at the scene, but their identity has not been released at this point.

The driver and a passenger in the other vehicle were taken to a hospital for their injuries. Troopers said they’re expected to be OK.

No other details have been released at this point.
