CMPD: Woman killed in south Charlotte crash

CHARLOTTE — A woman passed away on Tuesday evening after her car struck two trees in south Charlotte.

According to a release from CMPD, around 10 p.m. responding officers went to the 400 block of Remount Road near South Tryon for a car crash call. At the scene was a 2000 Mercedes Benz E320 that had run off the road and hit two trees.

The driver, 41-year-old Diana Marie Douglas, was pronounced dead by MEDIC.

Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation concluded that Douglas was driving southeast on Remount Road when she lost control. Investigators say that Douglas was not wearing her seatbelt and was speeding.

Police say they don’t know if drugs or alcohol were a factor, they are still waiting on toxicology results
