CHARLOTTE — A 49-year-old woman was killed Friday after being struck by a CATS bus in north Charlotte, according to police.
The crash happened around 1:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of North Graham Street.
CMPD identified the woman as Ebony Wingate. MEDIC responded and pronounced her dead at the scene.

According to the preliminary investigation, Wingate had exited the bus and then returned toward it as the bus began leaving the stop.
Police said she entered the roadway and was struck by the bus.
CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit, Transit Unit, and Crime Scene Search responded to investigate. The Charlotte Fire Department also assisted.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact CMPD.
