3 arrested in connection with slaying of Lancaster store owner

LANCASTER, S.C. — Deputies have arrested three men in connection with the shooting death of a beloved store owner in Lancaster County earlier this year.

Harnish Patel, the owner of the Speedee Mart on Pageland Highway, was shot and killed in his yard after coming home from work on March 2.

Authorities told Channel 9 Wednesday that they have arrested three people in connection with the homicide.

Jaquinton Blair, 23, was arrested on June 6 and charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Lajames Ross, 22, was arrested on June 8 and charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Richard Stewart, 42, was arrested on June 8 and charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and accessory before the fact of attempted armed robbery.

All three are in the Lancaster County Detention Center.

“Although no one has yet been charged with the murder of Mr. Patel, our investigators continue to work this case hard,” said Sheriff Barry Faile. “We are continuing to put information together and will not slow down until we are satisfied we have the whole story and have arrested the person or persons directly responsible for Mr. Patel’s death.”
