CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Four Chesterfield County Detention Center officers have been fired in the last two days in connection to the death of an inmate, the sheriff’s office announced Tuesday.
In total, six employees have been terminated since inmate Gary Blair was found dead inside his cell on July 24. The director of the Chesterfield County Detention Center was fired five days after Blair’s death, and another correctional officer was let go on Sept. 2.

The sheriff’s office is working with SLED in its investigation.
“Everyone involved must be held responsible and accountable for their actions and their respective roles in this matter, regardless of how big or small that roles might have been.” Sheriff Cambo Streater said in a release.
No other details have been released about Blair’s death.
