CHARLOTTE — Five Rock Hill residents have been sentenced to federal prison for their involvement in a huge multi-state drug case.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the following men will be serving time:

  • Darryl Hemphill, 35, was sentenced to 16 years in prison to be followed by 10 years of supervised release
  • Mikie Marcell Caldwell, 41, was sentenced to 17 years to be followed by 10 years of supervised release
  • Drece Larod McMullen, 41, was sentenced to 11 years to be followed by 10 years of supervised release
  • Odarrius Breonte Adams, 39, was sentenced to 14 years and 3 months to be followed by 6 years of supervised release
  • Dontavius Devar Jordan, 35, was sentenced to 11 years to be followed by 10 years of supervised release

Channel 9 captured footage in 2018 in southwest Charlotte when police, FBI agents and the DEA started serving a warrant on Cartgate Lane off South Tryon Street. Meanwhile in South Carolina, Channel 9 was along Stephanie Lane in the Rock Hill Country Club Estates neighborhood when the FBI and local agencies moved in.

The FBI said it hit 17 locations that day in both South Carolina and North Carolina. Darryl Hemphill, Mikie Caldwell and Drece McMullen were all arrested that day.

The group was accused of shipping large amounts of drugs from California to Rock Hill and Charlotte and then selling it. The drugs included cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana.

Authorities said Hemphill and Adams were the leaders of the group and helped make other members’ travel to California possible. In all, 19 people were charged in the case, 16 of whom pleaded guilty. The remaining three were convicted in August 2022 and will be sentenced at a later date.
