CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Tuesday, 53-year-old Jon Richardson, the oldest son of the Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, died after a battle with cancer.

The Panthers released a statement on Tuesday saying, “We are very saddened to learn of the passing of Jon Richardson. He was a great friend of many people throughout the organization and played an integral role in the history of the Panthers in the building of Bank of America stadium.”
Jon Richardson was president of Panthers Stadium LLC from 1994 until 2009.
Jon Richardson was a two-year student who started at wide receiver for the University of North Carolina.
