Action 9: Woman said Sprint failed to give her $100 gift card

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman said she participated in a special offer with Sprint that promised a $100 gift card, but after months of checking the mail and follow up calls, they refused to give it to her.

Esther Bayode has been a loyal Sprint customer for more than 10 years.

Last summer she said the carrier had a special online offer of a $100 gift card, adding any new phone with a two year commitment.

So she added a phone and was told to expect her gift card.

"So I should get a card in the mail within six weeks," said Bayode.

But the gift card never arrived so she called Sprint customer service.

"They always transferred me from one to another," said Bayode.

She got nowhere, then went up the chain of command and talked to someone at Sprint corporate.

"She finally said ma'am the offer is no longer available, there is nothing we can do," said Bayode.

She felt it was no way to treat a loyal customer of 10 years who was only asking for what she was due.

"I believe your customers are very important and when you make a promise you fulfill that promise to your customers," said Bayode.

So she turned to Action 9, and Action 9 took her complaint back to Sprint corporate.

This time Sprint responded differently. It agreed to give Bayode a credit on her bill of $100 which made her happy.

She said others can learn from her by standing up for what you feel you deserve.

"You should be, you should be because it is yours," said Bayode.
