Albemarle day care investigated for unjustly punishing child

ALBEMARLE, N.C. — The state is investigating an Albemarle day care, weeks after a mother said her 1-year-old was unjustly punished.

Amanda Tucker said her son was locked in a room with no adult supervision after biting another child at Little Friends Child Development Center.

Tucker said she doesn’t know how long he was without adult supervision or why the day care chose to discipline him with isolation.

“He may not have been physically bodily harmed. But mentally yes,” Tucker said. “(I want to see) a change, whether it's the employees change that had caused it or whatever it be with the day care."

The day care is required to make necessary changes to ensure this does not happen again.
