CHARLOTTE — American Airlines officials said it is adding new direct service from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Barcelona beginning in summer 2027, alongside expanded seasonal service to Paris.
The addition expands the airline’s international reach out of Charlotte, offering travelers 11 daily flights across nine European destinations next summer. The move builds on recent transatlantic additions at the hub, including service to Athens that launched in summer 2025.
The nine European destinations available from Charlotte next summer will include Barcelona, Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Munich, Paris, Rome and Athens. Barcelona stands as one of the most requested travel destinations in Spain.
Seasonal flights to Paris will begin in March 2027, moving up the route’s start date by several months compared to prior summer schedules to meet passenger demand.
The expanded seasonal service to Paris is scheduled to begin in March 2027, with the new Barcelona flights taking off later in the summer season.
