CHARLOTTE — The Around the Crown 10K returns to Uptown Charlotte this weekend for its eighth year, bringing about 10,000 runners to the city for one of Charlotte’s premier 10K races.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. Sunday and will lead to several road closures around Uptown, including portions of Interstate 277.
Drivers should expect closures beginning as early as 3 a.m. Sunday, with some roads not reopening until noon.
Road closures Sunday:
- South Tryon Street: Between W. Brooklyn Village Avenue and Trade Street. Closed from 3 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.
- South Mint Street: Near Truist Field, from W. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to W. 4th Street. Closed from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- I-277: The inner loop and one lane of the outer loop will close from 4 a.m. to noon.
- W. 4th Street: Between S. Graham Street and S. Mint Street. Closed from 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- N. Graham Street: Between 6th Street and 4th Street. A partial closure will be in place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Event organizers encourage participants and spectators to use public transit when planning a trip into Uptown.
