CMPD - File

CHARLOTTE — A 21-year-old man died Friday night following a collision with an SUV in the 2300 block of Wilkinson Boulevard in Charlotte.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the crash.

The crash happened around 8:32 p.m. on Oct. 23.

According to detectives, Wildt Hardin was riding a Yamaha motorcycle outbound on Wilkinson Boulevard at a ‘high rate of speed.’

The crash occurred as 26-year-old Lanaija Brown was making a left-hand turn from Wilkinson Boulevard onto West Morehead Street in a Chevrolet Blazer.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located Hardin lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries.

MEDIC transported Hardin to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators established that speed was a factor in the crash; further investigation is needed to determine whether impairment was a factor for Hardin.
