Atrium Health CEO Gene Woods made nearly $14M in 2022

CHARLOTTE — Atrium Health’s top 10 executives made a combined $36.87 million in 2022, according to an annual compensation report the Charlotte health-care system released April 7.

That is a roughly 32.4% increase compared to 2021.

CEO Gene Woods was Atrium’s top earner in 2022, bringing in nearly $14 million. That includes $3.7 million in base salary, $5.4 million in bonus compensation and $4.8 million in incentives and other compensation. In 2021, Woods earned a total of $9.83 million.

Atrium Health completed a joint-operating agreement with Midwest-based Advocate Aurora Health last December, resulting in the nation’s fifth-largest health system. Woods serves as co-CEO of that Charlotte-based umbrella company, named Advocate Health, along with Advocate Aurora’s Jim Skogsbergh.
