CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-headquartered AvidXchange Inc. narrowed its list of places to bring more than 1,000 new jobs to four metros, three of which were outside the Queen City.
The automatic payments-processing company, founded in Charlotte in 2000, was considering its large economic development expansion in Charlotte; Kansas City, Kansas; Oklahoma City and The Woodlands, Texas, according to a Jobs Development Incentives Grant filed by the company last year, submitted as part of an N.C. Department of Commerce public records request made by the Charlotte Business Journal.

The metros, all of which AvidXchange says would have been able to support the company’s growth, offered a range of incentives packages, some heftier than what the state of North Carolina, the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County put on the table.
“Each of the regions under consideration would provide the talent pool and/or training processes necessary to sustain and grow operations while increasing business synergy,” the application says. “The offer of incentives for each location under consideration is an essential piece of the company’s decision-making process and the company has stated that without the benefits derived from the proposed JDIG, the project will not move forward in North Carolina.”
