BayHaven Food & Wine Festival brings top Black chefs together

CHARLOTTE — Nearly 100 Black chefs and mixologists from across the country will converge in the Queen City at Camp North End for the second annual BayHaven Food & Wine Festival from Wednesday to Sunday.

The 5-day celebration of Black Foodways comes from culinary power couple chef Gregory “Greg” Collier and Subrina Collier. Greg is a three-time James Beard-nominated chef and their restaurant Leah & Louise was recently named one of America’s Best Restaurants by The New York Times.

Through their work, the Colliers want to help showcase Black culinary experts while creating opportunities for newcomers to the industry.

>> In the video at the top of this page, Your704′s Elsa Gillis talks to the couple about the festival and how it’s a part of their larger goal in Charlotte.
