Belgian manufacturer Ontex Group to bring 400 jobs to North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — In an economic development event reflective of the times at Rockingham County Governmental Center in the Triad, county officials announced that Belgian company Ontex Group will be the first occupant in developer Roy Carroll’s South Rockingham Corporate Park.

With only 25 invitees in attendance and empty chairs separated by at least 6 feet beneath an equally empty tent, neither state representatives nor company officials were present to make comments as it was announced Ontex Group will invest $96 million in a new facility and bring 403 jobs to the area.

The industrial park sits on 350 acres of a triangular-shaped site at Interstate 73 and N.C. Highway 65 in southern Rockingham County, just 10 miles north of Piedmont Triad International Airport. Ontex plans to build a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing plant there.
