Big 22: East Lincoln’s Jaxon Dollar

Channel 9’s next Big 22 Player to Watch is one of the best in the nation. East Lincoln’s Jaxon Dollar is ranked the No. 2 tight end in the country. That brings all kinds of pressure, but there are also perks.

Dollar committed to Georgia in April. The school is sponsored by Nike, and when he headed to Nike’s camp for the best of the best, The Opening, near the company’s headquarters in Oregon, he was presented with a chance to become a Nike athlete and design his own custom Air Max shoes. He accepted, so now you can consider him a fashion icon, even if he wasn’t really into that part of football until recently.

“Not until this year, if I’m being honest. All the years up until about now, I just didn’t care what I wore. I would just go with whatever’s comfy. That’s the main goal. Now it’s look good, feel good,” Dollar said.

It also feels pretty good to do good. Recently, Dollar teamed up with the Rally Foundation, a local nonprofit run by friends of the family. Moments like this let him appreciate where the game has taken him. Dollar never expected to have such an impact on those less fortunate.

“Not to this extent,” Dollar said. “Giving back to my community is the biggest thing for me because they’ve always been there for me no matter what. I didn’t think I’d be able to get this far, and giving back feels amazing.”
