Big 22 Player Elijah Hood commits to UNC Chapel Hill

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Big 22 Player Elijah Hood officially committed to UNC Chapel Hill on Tuesday, a week after de-committing from Notre Dame.

Hood committed to Notre Dame on April 28 after a visit to South Bend with his parents.

Hood released a statement on his Twitter account Tuesday evening.

The statement reads, "I am officially committing to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. To everyone who has supported me throughout this process, I say thank you. It is certainly had not gone unnoticed. I am blessed to have so many great institutions interested in me. Of all of the schools, North Carolina has endeared me the most because it feels like home. As the nation's first State University, the traditions and history of North Carolina make me extremely proud to be born here. The North Carolina community, Coach Fedora, and his staff, have done a great job at Chapel Hill and I can only expect better things ahead. Further, this decision will allow not only my family, but also my community to continue to be a part of me as I grow not only academically and physically, but in faith and maturity as well. This is entirely my decision based on what I view life and football to be about. I am excited to be a part of the Tar Heel family and a part of a football program that is already on the verge of great success. I will not be taking many interviews today. Go Heels!"
