Police investigate homicide after Cynthia Boza's body found in woods behind home

CONCORD, N.C. — The Concord Police Department is conducting a death investigation after officials found a body in the woods behind a home.

Investigators had been on the scene at 1101 Poole Place NW since about 3 p.m. Thursday after the body was discovered.

Detectives spent more than seven hours collecting evidence.

Concord police confirmed Friday that the body recovered was that of Cynthia Boza. Boza was last seen at her northwest Charlotte home on Dec. 3. Her car was also missing.

The manner of death has been ruled to be a homicide, officials said.

"I'm wondering what's going on," said neighbor Daniel Haga. "What happened? How it happened? Those are the main things I want to know. I want to know if we're safe, that's the biggest thing just safety.”

Neighbors told Channel 9 that officers surrounded the home quickly with crime scene tape and removed a woman's body from the woods.

Channel 9 also spotted detectives removing a mattress from the home, but neighbors said they don't think the victim lived there.

Witnesses also told Channel 9 that several people were taken into custody but police have not said if anyone is facing charges.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing, with Concord Police working closely with CMPD in an effort to identify those responsible for Boza’s death.
